Communications
An organization Al was working with
saw the importance of having all leaders
(about 600 people) understand and learn
about key directions, issues, initiatives,
and messages that impacted the whole
state-wide system. In consultation with
the senior team, a ‘Big Team’ was
developed that met once a quarter in
real time, and was also linked electronically
through open email communication
The agendas of the quarterly meetings:
- Were linked to the strategic and
operational planning cycle,
- Allowed the CEO and other leaders
to update on strategy and internal
developments and issues in an interactive ‘open
forum’ format,
- Through recognition and team-building
activities, reinforced everyone’s
identity as one organization.
- Allowed an opportunity to gather
input and feedback on critical issues..
After four years, the Big Team remains
an integral part of the management system
and culture of the organization.
